I can be pretty cynical about trailers sometimes, and even in this specific case, the clip in question probably gives away more than it should — but man do I love train movies. Strangers on a Train, Silver Streak, Runaway Train, Terror Train, hell I even liked the grungy little horror flick Train more than I logically should have. And don’t even get me started on the original Taking of Pelham 123, which is a wonderfully cool film from engine car to caboose.
I’ve also been known to enjoy a Tony Scott / Denzel Washington collaboration or two, and so have you if you dug Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Deja Vu, or the remake of The Taking of Pelham 123 — so I’m all over this new trailer. Unstoppable is about a runaway train that’s loaded with explosive chemicals and is also barreling its way into a highly populated area. Chris Pine is along for the ride as Denzel’s young co-hero, and it seems like the people screaming in the stylishly-lit control room will be Rosario Dawson and Kevin Dunn. Plus the script comes from the guy who did Die Hard 4, so there’s a little action lunacy for you. To the man’s inestimable credit, he did pen this:
“This is not a TRAIN! This is a MISSILE! The size of the CHRYSLER BUILDING!”
Unstoppable hits theaters on November 12. (Not literally.) I hope they call the sequel Immovable. Here’s the trailer:
