If you had a pet chipmunk hanging around your backyard, would you: a) attempt a dramatic animal shelter rescue, b) ignore it, or c) snap photos of the creature interacting with your old Star Wars action figures? If you’re reading this blog, your answer is most likely C — and one dude (who goes by the name powerpig on Flickr) did just that with the little chipmunk named Billy who hung around his yard.
From powerpig’s Flickr page: “On a sunny day back in August, I was out in the yard feeding Billy. He was especially friendly that day, returning again and again for almonds. I decided I would try and pet him while he gobbled up the almonds, and he seemed quite receptive to it. Getting a bit more brazen, I put my thumb and forefinger on either side of his hind quarters and gave him a little wiggle. Again, he didn’t bat an eye. That’s when it occurred to me that I could probably put an action figure on his back without him fleeing.” (Am I the only one who loves his thought process here? Only a geek thinks this way.)
So, yeah, once he got the chipmunk to pose for the above photo, the whole Empire (plus Chewbacca and an Ewok) came out to play with Billy. Check out a few images below, and more over on his Flickr page.

Over on his Flickr photostream, Greg the Bunny has up a series of images titled Adventures in Stormtrooping — all of which document the behind-the-scenes of what it’s like to be a Stormtrooper. The funniest photos are the ones that place these Stormtroopers in everyday situations (like in the kitchen or on the toilet); it almost feels like if there were a colorful sitcom starring Stormtroopers — this is what it’d look like. I especially like the photos that mix in a little Simpsons in the background, and, c’mon, who doesn’t love Death Star humor? There’s a bunch of other action figure cameos too (and a couple hilarious images which are part of his ‘What Happens in Broom Closets on the Death Star’ series) so check out some of our favorites below and the rest over on Flickr.

Here’s a cool story I came across today. How did the makers of Iron Man put together that montage detailing the rise of Tony Stark, Obadiah Stane, and Stark Industries? Apparently they did it at least in part by looking for nifty photos on the internet.
Jeremy Keith is “just” a web designer with a website and a Flickr account. This week, he posted a fun account of how team Iron Man found one of his Flickr photos — a picture of his friend in NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building — decided they wanted to use it, and set about getting his permission. The best part: he ignored them for weeks. But apparently they really liked the photo, and hounded him for it. The second best part: they didn’t know it was a photo taken in one of NASA’s most famous facilities — which is obviously a great fit for the film’s subject matter. They thought it was “just some warehouse or something.”
Anyway, good story, and I didn’t see it around the movie blogs, so there you go. People do insane things for internet fame, but sometimes it just happens by accident, after a fashion. Remember this next time you put up a photo album and make it public.
